Brief Introduction
Mr. Gaurang Shah graduated from the prestigious MS University of Vadodara, India in 2000 and he completed his General Surgical training in 2005 and was awarded Gold Medal for first rank in university.
He migrated with his family to Melbourne in 2007 and then completed his FRACS in General surgery from the Alfred health in Melbourne. He has worked for four years in colorectal surgery at Alfred, Frankston, Austin, Ballarat and Townsville hospitals.
Mr. Gaurang Shah offers a variety of minimally invasive and open gastrointestinal surgery but has a keen interest in laparoscopic and open colorectal surgery for cancer including rectal cancers, anorectal surgery for benign conditions. He is certified to perform minimal invasive surgery for hemorrhoids including Doppler ligation of hemorrhoid artery and rectoanal repair and laser treatment for anorectal fistulae.
He has also been trained to perform hiatus hernia repair with fundoplication including for large complex hernia and redo cases.
He is accredited with GESA and has completed recertification course for colonoscopy and is trained to advanced procedures such as dilatation for stricture, endoscopic mucosal resection and stent placement.
His research involves colonic diverticular disease, various methods of database collection in healthcare and anorectal malformations.
He enjoys playing tennis, hiking, reading spiritual articles and meditation.
